7th Day Coffee is named for the 7th day of rest in the Bible. Their hours are 7:00 am to 5:00 pm and closed on Sundays. It is located in a strip mall in Richardson, Texas. It’s a hole-in-the-wall location, but the interior is a breath of fresh air for this area of town. Because of their location, I RARELY run into anyone I know…which can be a good thing or a bad thing, depending on what you’re looking for. You’ll find the owner, Sam, behind the bar every day. He is very kind and welcoming, he loves a good chat, and is friendly with everyone.
I appreciate this space because it’s quiet enough that you can get your work done, but they still have good music. It’s never too busy, so you can always find seating, and you won’t have to wait long for your order to be ready. The layout is cozy and functional, with a mix of seating options depending on your vibe for the day. Along one wall, there’s a built-in bench lined with individual tables and bistro chairs on the opposite side, each table can comfortably seat two to four people. This is where I usually sit because they have a plethora of outlets on the bench! There is also a high-top communal table, usually occupied by a group of high schoolers working on a project. Toward the back, there’s a softer, more relaxed area with couches and sofa chairs, if you’re in the mood to read or chat without the formality of a table.
You know that scene in “Elf” when Buddy sees the sign in the window of a coffee shop and runs in congratulating them on having the “World’s Best Cup of Coffee”? He could say that to this shop.
They have the BEST pumpkin-spiced lattes. It’s not too sweet, so you can actually taste the pumpkin and the espresso. Also, their oat milk is SO creamy! Sometimes, oat milk can taste and look watered down since it’s so different from a whole milk latte, but they do a good job of keeping the integrity of a creamy non-dairy latte! Another win for them is that they serve gluten-free pastries from the “Nido” bakery! “Nido” is a home bakery that was started by one of my college friends. Their Instagram can be found here.
Come here if: you want to work on a laptop and need an outlet, or want to spread out your books for a quiet time.
